Hasbury children go on a multicultural journey

Children from Hasbury Primary School went on a journey around the world as part of a special multicultural week.
Each class, from Reception through to year six, embraced a different culture which was then showcased to the whole school.
Throughout the activity packed week the pupils studied all aspects about France, Australia, England and South East Asia and took part in a whole range of activities to help raise their awareness of each culture, including dressing in the country’s national dress and listening to traditional music.
Activities included maypole and bhangra dancing as well as a game of ozzy rules football.
The children also created Indian rangoli and mehndi patterns as well as preparing and serving French bread and yemen sweets.
And one class created a moving portrayal about the story of St George during the school’s collective fellowship, which was performed in front of the whole school as well as parents and members of the community.
Deputy Headteacher, Pam Griffiths, said the week had been a huge success and said all the “children, parents and staff had thoroughly enjoyed the experience”.
