The Arts Council England Artsmark

The Arts Council England Artsmark is awarded to schools in recognition of outstanding commitment to the arts.

Artsmark provides a benchmark for arts provision that encourages schools to consider the opportunities they offer in art, dance, drama and music. The application form for Artsmark acts as an auditing tool, through which schools may gain an overall picture of their arts education provision.

Applying for Artsmark has a strong impact on the range of curriculum activities and experiences available for pupils. The application process is able to trigger changes in provision through a combination of a sound evidence base, heightened awareness and capacity for change.

Activemark 2008/9 & Sportsmark 2008/9

Activemark and Sportsmark are awarded annually and reward delivery of the national PE, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) strategy.  They are open to all schools which are part of a School Sport Partnership.  For the second year, schools are automatically assessed for one of the marks through the national school sport survey, which all partnership schools take part in.  This means that schools do not have to complete a separate application form. This ensures that the burden placed on schools is kept to the very minimum.

Activemark 2008

Schools received the mark if, according to the survey:·
•    90% or more of pupils across the school were doing at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport a week.

The Quality Mark is about recognising minimum standards in teaching literacy and numeracy. Attainment of this award is normally based on a close partnership between the Agency, Local Authority and schools. Over 5100 schools have our Quality Mark to date in England and Wales.
